SILVIO SPOTTI COMISSIONS (BATMAN)

As we approach the new year, I’ve been reflecting on my art and ways to improve my craft. To kick things off, I’ve been diving into black-and-white art exercises using pencil, brush, and black Indian ink. It’s been a fantastic warm-up for 2025, where I aim to elevate my game even further!

In this series, I revisited some iconic characters: the menacing Joker, the dark and brooding Batman, the legendary pin-up queen Bettie Page, the powerful Supergirl, and the spectral DC Comics Deadman. Working in pure black and white forces me to focus on contrasts, textures, and the emotions these characters exude—no colors to lean on, just raw lines and shadows.

As much as I wanted to attend CCXP 2024 this year, I had to prioritize my work commitments. But no worries—2025 promises to be even bigger! This warm-up is my way of preparing for the exciting projects I have lined up and reconnecting with the roots of storytelling through art.

In the spirit of reflection, it’s impossible not to think about the bigger picture—whether it’s Elon Musk’s latest moves, Donald Trump still making headlines, or the rapid changes shaping our world. As an artist, I draw inspiration from everything around me, from pop culture to the shifting tides of society.

Speaking of projects, I’ll be working on my comic book Sword of Justice for Top Secret Press in the coming months, diving deeper into the sci-fi, cyberpunk, and fantasy worlds I love creating. Plus, I’ve got a secret project up my sleeve that I can’t wait to reveal when the time is right. 2025 is shaping up to be a year full of creativity and surprises!

Here’s to a creative and inspiring new year! Keep an eye out for more updates on my journey, and let me know what you think of these black-and-white studies.
