Adapting The Vessel: From Novel to Comic Book Page

Adapting my indie sci-fi novel, The Vessel, into a sequential graphic novel format has been a huge undertaking. For a long time, this dark space universe lived only in text. Today, I can finally reveal the first official look at the raw comic book line art for an upcoming page.
Moving a hard science fiction story from a manuscript to sequential panels forces you to rethink how every single moment lands. Inside a massive, isolated starship, you can't rely on internal monologues anymore. You have to translate psychological tension, cabin fever, and mechanical breakdowns into heavy ink shadows and intense facial expressions.
The preview panel above showcases that exact atmosphere, from the detailed exterior silhouette of the vessel in deep space down to the chaotic grit inside the command bridge during a critical alert. This classic black and white comic style was a deliberate choice to ground the story's bleak, high-stakes tone.
